Night at the Museum
"I'll have 2 tickets to 'Night at the
Opera' please". "Huh?", the ticket agent was clearly puzzled. "Oh, I mean 'at
the Museum'. My faux pas, but I was amused that it seemed she had never even
heard of this classic title.
Well, the movie itself was fun. Good escapist,
funny story. Not great, mind you, but
okay.
What was fun, though, is a few
weeks later we went to New York. So, I took François to the real Museum of
Natural History near Central Park. The movie had clearly drawn in several
visitors, because we overheard tourists referencing the movie several times
during our explorations. And like them, we were disappointed at how little the
movie looked like the museum. Except for the Easter Island statue - and maybe
you can count the bronze statue of Teddy Roosevelt - nothing was the same. No
diaromas, no cave men, no Genghis Khan or even Sacajawea, who is nearly a
central focus of the movie.
Unless we
managed to miss these exhibits in our tour! It's certainly a big place, and
François enjoyed the museum immensely, despite it's lack of resemblance to
the movie :)
