Speaking of propaganda ...
... this YouTube flick , from 60
Minutes, is worth watching. It talks about Pallywood, the exaggeration and
staging on violence in Israel against the Palestinians.
I ran across the Pallywood discussion after
following up on recent news articles about a Reuters photographer who was fired
after doctoring images of the Israel/Hezbollah conflict. It should come as no
surprise that media imagery, especially of such emotionally heated topics as
this conflict, is being manipulated and staged to make the situation worse, or
one side look like the bad guys, etc.
As
media and information consumers, we have to be very, very diligent these days of
such fraud. Not only about the news, but about what we hear in the business
world too. There are active fraudsters, who are very conscious and hard-working
in their endeavors, who will continuously strive to create images and stories to
reinforce their reputation and impugn others. In this vein, i've got an
incredible, very hard-to-believe, modern day KKK story to share, from the most
unlikely of places, business consulting; but I'll save that for another
day.
In the meantime, we all, as
citizens, need to be active skeptics of everything we read or hear about, and do
our own due diligence on every "fact" and opinion that we digest.
