Super-Cannes

Boy, J.G. Ballard's childhood experience in China under Japanese occupation must have really messed him up! He has written some disturbing novels as an adult.

SuperCannes is another of his dystopian visions. Set in a master-planned corporate community near Cannes, everything looks peachy, except that a predecessor went bonkers and killed 10 of his fellow associations. Idle and out-of-a-job, protagonist Paul started to investigate the murders, only to get intwined with madness. It was a compelling read, trying to figure out the mystery. But then, the book bogs down in the end, and I was quite disappointed.

Ballard is not very everyone, but this novel had some good points.
