THE FOREST GREEN

Deeper and deeper into the forest green,
through the rain I walked, hearing things yet unseen.

So many times this path I walked before,
never really seeing it, never looking for more.

But there are vistas, I can see them now, everywhere I look,
the mountains in the distance, the leaf floating by in the brook.

To appreciate the smallest things,
is to look with wonder at everything.

My thoughts wander freely, my imagination ablaze,
from the earth to the sky, I see shades of green
everywhere I gaze.

From the tallest tree to a teardrop of rain,
there exists a simple purity so rare to obtain.

Like the river that flows through the Forest Green,
the Forest Green flows through me, giving me a chance
to see things yet unseen.
