NEWCASTLE
Newcastle is by far the best all around dog we have found. He was starving and lonely, but other than that, in extremely good condition. He is very outgoing and friendly, a perfect medium size dog. He ia a mix of Lab, Shar Pei and Chow, but exhibits none of the negative traits of those breeds. He weighs about 25 pounds, is about 1 year old, neutered, has all of his shots, and is even micro chipped.
He will play when it is play time. He gets along with large and small alike. He is completely house broken. He will sit in your lap or sit next to you with his paws crossed if you don't have time to pay attention to him that moment. He is waiting patiently now, watching me type this!
I found Newcastle just a few days before Faktura Gallery's Art Basel 2005 exhibition show opened. It was terrible time to bring in a new stray, but he won me over immediately. His micro chip was put in by Animal Services, but the people who adopted him, dumped out onto the streets to fend for himself. His hind legs were weak from mal nutrition, and are still not really strong, but running in the park a few times a week has helped him regain most of his strength. Now he is running with the rest of them, just not quite as quickly.
Newcastle could live with other pets, or by himself. He is very friendly, but will guard the house if he feels the need. He is a great dog for a new dog owner, and will be a great companion to the person lucky enough to adopt him.
