FAKTURA PROJEKTS

Art Liaison- Jacquelyn Jackson Johnston

Jacquelyn and Phluffy dreaming together (Bruno and Isis were on my legs!)

Jacquelyn's Statement

Faktura Projekts is the most genuine creation I have ever brought to life

Love for art

compassion for creatures

and the demand I make upon my being to consistently add something positive

to the planet in exchange for every breath I take

When I fall asleep I dream only of more projekts to come

new ways to help and more creative ways to enlighten

When I open my eyes and realize all of these dreams are the present

I thank the world for every breath

feel the warmth and love of those around me

and EXHALE

How I got started

I moved to Miami for a lot of reasons

But I stayed for one

Here I feel a more vivid sensation of the impact of my every action

I got the infamous warehouse as a place to create art

Though I soon came to realizeit is not a place

Creating art in this space is the MEDIUM of creation

Art does not stop within neatly stretched canvas parameters

With every new challenge this wonderful city dropped at my feet

Was also delivered the will to make positive change

In ways evolving every day

Relying on the force of my imagination to see new possibilities

Short Bio

So many thanks to so many people, places and events

But for now I would like to only say

Thank you to my mother

She taught me an invaluable principal

The one ingredient without which Faktura Projekts would be impossible

The Lemon Lesson:

"Life WILL give you lemons.

It's up to you what to do with them.

Either sit back and make a sour face...

OR MAKE LEMONADE"

Bruno as my date at Faktura Gallery's One Year Anniversary

JACQUELYN JACKSON JOHNSTON Artist Statement about Pet Rescue

While a work of art will only increase if it is unique, all too often amazing hybrid canines are chastised for their originality. As struggling emerging artists, living and working in one of the less lavish neighborhoods of Miami, we understand what it is like to live on the fringes of society and constantly feel like we didn't get that name-brand label everyone on TV is trying to convince us to need.

AND WE LOVE IT.

So we have dedicated ourselves to helping our little friends learn to enjoy their individuality as much as we do.

Who would want a regular old breed you can buy at any department store when you can have a:

Krazy Hyena Puerto-Rican Pot-Licker Dog

or a

Un-hinged Street Gansta Jumping Bean Dog

or a

One-Eared I Lost To Tyson But I'll Beat You Dog

or a

Little Thrift Store Purse Dog

or a

Yo Grillz Ain't Hotta Than Mine Dog

[All breed names are registered breeds of "AKC", fAktura projeKts inC]

These abandoned pets deserve a second chance at happiness and we are committed to enabling that chance. Through art I hope to find a way to present the terrible side of this phenomenon, in a way that is beautiful for its potential to heal. My work constantly struggles with our culture's affinity for the grotesque and the beautiful, and this project has become a natural addition to my need to change points of view while also changing that situation I depict in my work.

I have never been happy with just taking a picture of an event; I have to be an active participant in the change of the outcome as well.

Phluffy and Isis (Guess which one of my little ladies ate my couch!)

Phluffy's eyes are almost closed because I surprised them while the were sleeping

I would have NEVER caught this picture if they had known I was there LOL

My little couch muffin- Mable Isis Princess of Power... ISIS for short!

(YES, that is a Doxie, long-haired PIEBALD red and white DOXIE! Rare, but oh so lovable)

Phluffy's first beach day... "Where is my big yellow chewing gum?!"

(That's what we call a tennis ball)

My handsome boy, more of a beach bum than water sport enthusiast like Phluffy ;)
