7th graders begin an in-depth study of life science, including the scientific method, cell biology, genetics, heredity, evolution, zoology and ecology. The curriculum relies heavily on using the scientific method and experimentation to gather knowledge about the natural world. In March, check here for more information about the fourth term science fair. Click here to see a list of upcoming projects, online links to our classes, and our textbook's interactive features, as well as a place to continue our class conversation on our group blog.

5th grade science, focused on learning how to employ models, hands-on activites and measurement to explain observations, takes advantage of the natural curiousity and excitment of this group of students. Using a wide variety of ways to express their ideas, 5th graders will be exploring human biology, astronomy and oceanography. Cooperative projects, lab activities and individual reports allow 5th graders to use their unique strengths and think as scientists.

2nd graders learn about science through experience; as students explore magnetism, plant growth, astronomy, geology and the physics of light and sound, they will be learning to use their senses to describe the world around them with precision. Integrated with their exploration of the United States in 2nd grade geography, students will be learning to see the world around them through the eyes of a scientist.
