LeCount Holmes, Jr.

LeCount R. Holmes, Jr. is a motivational speaker and trainer whose primary goal is to assist others in developing and understanding the words of Dr. Norman Vincent Peale in The Power of Positive Thinking: "Whatever the mind can perceive and believe, it can achieve!"

LeCount has traveled down many roads in pursuit of his various interests. This inspirational writer, actor, voice-over talent, and jazz vocalist served in the United States Army and studied Sociology at the University of the District of Columbia. He is currently matriculating at Washtenaw Community College in an insatiable pursuit of professional and personal development.

After leaving a position in corporate America, Mr. Holmes established a consulting firm, "I Believe in Me- I Believe in You," which specializing in consultative services and presentations to corporations and educational institutions. A member of Toastmasters International, Holmes was a well-known air personality with 1380 WAOK, the top Gospel Radio Station in Atlanta.

A highlight of his career is a one-man re-enactment of the life and times of historical figure Frederick Douglass, "Frederick Douglass ­ The Man," a docudrama was written and performed by him. Mr. Holmes believes he was born to portray Frederick Douglass and has traveled the U.S. and Europe sharing the richness of African American history while teaching determination, perseverance and self-esteem.

Mr. Holmes appeared as Frederick Douglass in a recently released documentary entitled "Emancipation, Revelation, Revolution" which debuted October 2005 at the Liberty Film Festival in Los Angeles. He also appeared in a music video "Latter Rain," which premiered in January 2006 at the MLK Center in Atlanta.

 

Mr. Holmes has received outstanding accolades for his contributions to various organizations including:

  • Awards from numerous educational institutions for the highly realistic portrayal of Frederick Douglass
  • DeKalb County School System commendations for teaching educators how to communicate creatively and effectively with at-risk children
  • Arizona State University ­ Outstanding contributions to African American History Month
  • The Department of Children and Youth Services for outstanding service ­ motivating youth at DeKalb Regional Youth Detention Centers

Mr. Holmes instills in his audiences the fact that we should never give up and that we should always pull from that inner reservoir of spiritual resources we all possess to achieve victory. He believes that it is imperative that we know our TRUE history!!! His philosophy of life is summed up in the credo he lives by: The Name of Life's Game Is "Don't Give Up!"

A native of Washington D.C., Mr. Holmes lived and worked in Atlanta for16 years. He now resides in Ypsilanti, Michigan.
