Thank you for ...performing on a very emotional and patriotic day, September 11, 2002....Your performance "A Tribute to Freedom, 9/11" with Michael Rex and Carlos was an inspiration to us all. When you sang the "STAR SPANGLED BANNER" you could have heard a pin drop. Our Commons has never been so quiet. When you reached the part about "the flag was still there" and raided those two flags, I actually got goose bumps and I started crying, at that point I turned and one of our police officers had dears in his eyes. WOW!!!

Thank you for your stunning performance today at Shell during our International Festival. It is really good to see a sister who is able to incorporate a diverse audience into her performance and touch so many in literally minutes. During your performance, I felt a great sense of pride and wanted to personally thank you for your time, talent and energy. You have been blessed with the tremendous gifts of song, inspiration and healing. Continue in your walk to enlighten others in diversity.

As we embark upon this continuous journey at Shell, I'm sure your performance will allow many of us the opportunity to dialogue with our colleagues and hopefully make a difference as you have for me today.....Thanks,

She really WOWS the audience. Kijana related the Griot performance back to the subject of cultural diversity time and again... She hits on topics that are common to all people...it never hurts to hear it in a different way...PERFECT!

I am still talking about the wonderful experience you provided at HCC-Ybor Campus today. I was honored to have some time to speak with you and to enjoy your wonderful wit and the recounting of your adventures and experiences on your travels. The benefit to our students is truly incalculable. Who knows what you have inspired in them. Again, my thanks for the experience of YOU!! You are wonderful and so very, very alive. I hope you managed to wake-up some of our sleepy folk.

Kijana Wiseman is a character the likes of which you won't run across more than once or twice in this lifetime. In fact, just knowing there's even one person like her in this world is both shocking and exciting!...a woman posessed to just bursting with life and song.

Peppered with a little political satire, history and personal experience, Wiseman took her audience from the beginning of time, with the first wedding of the "whole word" in Africa, to the present, with song.

Dear Kijana,

I was at FCCJ today at your performance. I must say it was quite inspiring. I really liked what you had to say about the testing. The guy that I'm committed to never had to do that because he was a virgin, but for me it was a little different, the guy I dated before the one I'm dating now, seduced me with using "I love you!" And he never meant it because we had been dating only a few weeks when had said that. I myself have had blood tests done and I'm ok. My longtime boyfriend and I have been dating 2 yrs and 7 mths. We are talking about marriage, but way in the future. Thank You again for your inspiring performance. !

Sincerly,
Tiena M.
