Norm Shea
Director
Norm has been the head of the Lakes Management Department since January of 1991 so has seen many changes in the island over time. He is a native of Daytona Beach, FL and came to Charleston in 1981 to attend The Citadel. After graduating in 1986 with a BS in biology, he spent 3 years as a fisheries extension agent with the Peace Corps in Liberia, West Africa.
He is active in the SC Native Plant Society as well as Sierra Club at both the local and state levels.

Carrie Manson
Aquatic Resource Biologist
Carrie is a 1997 graduate from Wright State University in Dayton, OH, with a BS in biology and a minor in psychology. She is a native of West Milton, OH.
She has worked as a naturalist recently with Kiawah Island Resort's Nature Program and previously with Brukner Nature Center in Troy, OH. In Maine she worked as a whitewater rafting guide with Adventure Bound and as an environmental educator with Americorps.
Carrie has been with the Lakes Management Department since April of 2002 and in that brief time has twice been voted Employee of the Quarter.

Mike Parrish
Aquatic Resource Biologist
Mike is the newest member of the Lakes Department, joining us in late 2004. He is new to the Charleston area, moving here with his wife and daughter in July of 2004.
Mike attended Saint Joseph's College in Rensselaer, IN, graduating with a Bachelor's of Science degree in Environmental Science in 2003. He has a varied background, working as a supervisor with Stark Truss Company, at Rose Acre Farms as a supervisor / pasteurizer, and with the Nature Conserancy at Kankakee Sands as a restoration assistant.
He enjoys fishing and a host of outdoor activities so will fit well in the Lakes Dept.
