Cafe Gratitude
The Cafe Gratitude is currently located in San Francisco (Harrison and 20th) but they are building branches in Berkeley and in the Sunset district of SF. I went there with Ela and Firebird and we had a delicious time. The food is SOOOO yummy! Everything on the menu is an affirmation, such as "I am wonderful." So, when you order, you are affirming yourself.

Vital Ital Calabash
Ital Calabash is located right on Ashby and Adeline in Berkeley. (There is also one in Oakland.) It features great music, great staff and great food. The living food available consists of three live wraps, an island salad and raw lasagna. The people who run it are guided by African spirituality which they gladly share with anyone interested. Most of the staff do not touch money so the customer has to make change right from the cash register. There are beautiful books to browse through while you eat.
