The House of Black

The noble and most ancient house of Black has become a house divided against itself. Druella Rosier joined the family by marrying Cygnus Black (1929-1979). She gave birth to three daughters, Bellatrix (Bella), Narcissa (Cissy) and Andromeda (who was disowned because she married a Mugblood, Ted Tonks. Andromeda and Ted had a daugher, Nymphadora (who hated her given name and insisted on being known as Tonks). Walburga and Orion Black (both of the same family) had two sons, Regulus and Sirius. Walburga was a true believer in the superiority of pureblood wizarding families over all others, so much so that, when certain renegades married in a way she found inappropriate, she burned their names off the tapestry of the family tree.
Of those who remained on the tapestry, Bellatrix LeStrange is fanatically loyal to Voldemort and the Death Eaters, as is her husband. Narcissa Malfoy who married Death Eater, Lucius Malfoy, believed in the superiority of purebloods but, in the end, proved to be more loyal to her immediate family than to Voldemort. Regulus Black was a Death Eater until Voldemort's shoddy treatment of his house elf, Kreacher, turned him against their whole cause.
Those whose names were burned off the tapestry include Sirius and Andromeda, "blood traitors." Sirius ran away from home while still in school. He was in Gryffinder House while at school and was best friends with James Potter. He is also Godfather for Harry Potter. Andromeda's daughter, Nymphadora Tonks is an Auror and member of the Order as well. She married Remus Lupin (a werewolf).
Sirius and Regulus grew up at 12 Grimwald Place. Regulus' room decorations attest to his pride in Slytherin. When Sirius was still living at home, he defiantly decorated his room with Gryffinder colors.
A house elf named Kreacher lives at 12 Grimwald Place. Fanatically loyal to Walburga, he resented having to take orders from Sirius, who turned the house into the headquarters for The Order of the Phoenix. Much later, Kreacher transferred his loyalties to Harry Potter after Potter showed him some kindness.
