Air Conditioning. In my not so humble opinion, air conditioning
is the abomination of the 20th Century. I like summer. I
enjoy being nice and warm. Isn't the winter long enough? Must we
be cold all year long? Air conditioning is bad for the health. Going
from the hot street to an ice-cold store or restaurant can cause us to
catch cold. You're too hot? Dive into a nice, cold pool.
Cars on Sidewalks. Cars belong on the street and pedestrians belong on the sidewalk. But in San Francisco, it is a popular idea to park one's car right on the sidewalk where people are trying to walk. So the people have to walk in the gutter
where the cars should be.
Change? I have noticed a trend toward cashiers handing a customer the paper money and the coins at the same time. They get everything ready and then just shove it all into the customers' hands at one time. So the customer has to fumble with
hir
things for half an hour while the cashier is ready for the next customer with pressure to get out of the way so someone else can have hir turn. What happened to courteous cashiers who hand you your coins, then hand you your paper at a pace you can
process.
