Tiger Leaping Gorge

During the
second week of our final trip, we took a three day hike
along Tiger Leaping Gorge, one of the finest areas I
had been to in China. It was a beautiful hike with
dangerous drops that were matched only by the dizzying
views. Take a wrong step here and you'll be plummeting
into splendor.
OK, it wasn't that dangerous, but there was a possibility of death. This allowed for more beautiful pictures, which you can view on the "TIGGER" page.

Pictures!
This is the first batch of pictures from my final trip
in China. You can head over to the new 'Western
Sichuan' page to view all the beautiful, glorious
pictures. For this trip, we headed west on the
Sichuanese-Tibetan Highway to try and get as close to
the Tibetan region as we could. We succeeded in doing
so, and consequently avoiding the heavy entrance fees
into the famed region of Tibet. The area we were in was
still located on the Tibetan Plateau and was largely a
Tibetan region. Buddhism is the most popular religion
of the region, and there were many monasteries and
prayer flags to indicate this.
The trip was one of my favorite parts of my time in China, and I think the pictures make the beauty of the region as clear as can be. Head over to the 'Western Sichuan' page to view them in all their eye-popping glory.

#12 – Puke
#11 – Take Four Eleven Hour Bus/Mini Bus Rides Through Wester Sichuan and the Tibetan Plateau (Sichuanese-Tibetan Highway) – Unbelievable. And scary.
#10 – Attend a Sky Burial – Story forthcoming!
#9 – Hike Tiger Leaping Gorge – One of the largest gorges in the world did not disappoint. Amazing hike with equal amounts of beautiful scenery and terrifying drop-offs.
#8 – Climb a 100ft Ladder – With no safety net, rope, harness, or anything that would make it relatively safe. Stupid? Yes. Fun? Certainly.
#7 – Visit New Cities – Chengdu, Kanding, Litang, Shangri-La, Lijiang
#6 –Horseback Ride – My horse must have been at least six hands too short (that is horseback riding talk for height… maybe). It also looked like it could use a good meal and couldn’t go faster than a walk, no matter how much I dug my heels into its side. The open grasslands across the Tibetan Plateau was worth the trouble and discomfort, and the always changing weather patterns made for some seriously awesome sights.
#5 –Eat Two Meals With a Tibetan Nomad Family –Yak Yogurt. Yak Meat. Yak Noodles. Yak Milk Tea. YAK! Yakkity yak, don’t come back!
#4 – Eat Gelato – Chocolate!
#3 – Have A Birthday! – Holy Moly 24 years old!
#2 – Carry Five Bags of Clothes, Books, Souvenirs, and My Entire Life Through 100 Degree Heat, A Billion Shoving Chinese People, and On One Seriously Crowded Train To Get To Shanghai – I’m never doing that again.
#1 – FLY HOME TO AMERICA!
