Lunch Box

'A lunch box is a universe.' Masayo Kojima 2003 (Please click Read More)

I carry a lunch box (Bento in Japanese) which Masayo cooks every morning to the work. She started this shortly after we moved to Kyoto, and she is improving since then. The comment on the top of this entry is sometimes made by her, and the implication is changing along with her improvement.

I think, for the first time, a lunch box is like a black hall; no idea what to put in, how to locate each contents or when to start cooking to give the lunch box to me before I leave to the work etc. But now it is like a space where she can play around with her Mars, Jupiter or the Earth etc, and every morning she produces a universe which is different from the yesterday's.

The above photo is her recent 'universe' with some new menu. I had a bite, then I really liked the new menu, so I took out my mobile phone and took a photo. It is a shame that this blog cannot bring you some smell... Anyway I hope this photo stimulates the appetite of some of you.

When Japanese people hear this kind of 'oh, my wife is so wonderful' stuff, they say a word 'Gochisousama'. It is usually said when people finish a meal.

I think this is not only a coincidence!

Here's looking at her Bento.
