Sometimes, labeling something as W, S, N, or E is about as easy as telling if a skull bone is that of a horse, mule, burro, or donkey. But then again, there are pilgrims & programs that proclaim themselves proudly. The Rebel (1959-61) was oriented South, pointing wherever went a still-rebellious ex-Reb trying to adapt to a post-war landscape. The Rough Riders (1958) was a tale of a Gray riding with two Blues, mixed musketeers meeting post-bellum adventures. In The Gray Ghost (1957-58), The War of Northern Aggression was still being valiantly repelled, and with more color & zest than exhibited its Union counterpart Mackenzie's Raiders (1957-59). The Loner (1965) was a bleak b&w about a Northerner curiously afflicted by a clinical depression deeper than any Confederate's.
