| | When the rains started we began to have a problem in the alley behind our office |
| | | We had to sand bag the area to keep the water out of the lower parking deck |
| | | Suddenly water started leaking into our basement offices |
|
| | It came through everywhere. Light switches.... |
| | | | This wasn't the first time we had water in the basement, so we took it in stride |
|
| | But the water began to get deeper... |
| | |
| | We started to pump the water out to keep the damage to a minimum... |
| | | but the water continued to rise |
| | | The water in the alley continued to get higher too |
|
| | It finally made it over our sand bags and filled our lower parking deck |
| | | Outside on East Main Street the cars continued to drive by.... |
| | | but the parking lot across the street by the train station was filling quickly |
|
| | It was now about 5:45pm and we could not believe how high the water had come up |
| | | but then the unthinkable happened..... |
| | | this was taken at about 5:45pm... the next picture was taken from the same spot |
|
| | at 6pm, a wall of water came down the street and burst through our office doors |
| | | we headed to higher ground on the second floor apartments we own... |
| | | When we got upstair this was the view we had of the farmers market |
|
| | We watched huge things like this dumpster float by.... |
| | | and lots of produce from Lovings (these are bags of lettuce) |
| | | The water flowing by the train station looked like class 5 rapids |
|
| | Look closely to the left of the yellow building, there is a person trapped there |
| | | The water here is probably about 9 feet deep and flowing very fast!!! |
| | | The view of the alley, behind our building. The cars you see are at ground level |
|
| | Finally around 11:30pm the water had dropped to a level where we could leave... |
| | | with a little help from the rescue teams... |
| | | It was a very muddy walk out.. exit the slide show and click "Part 2" for more |
