The Woodworking of Kelly Kerin |
Kelly Kerin's interest in ancient symbols coupled with the creative outlet of woodworking has enabled the artisan to explore both worlds. Taking the original vision and turning it into a concrete form is a journey in and of itself, often requiring great demands upon the individual's skill. Overcoming unforeseen challenges while striving to improve are journeys undertaken resulting in uniqueness in each work.
Currently, Kelly Kerin's work is focused on celebrating the intricate knot work designs associated with a style often referred to as Celtic Christian art. These ancient designs, which flourished in the 8th and 9th centuries, were used extensively in the production of illuminated manuscripts. The beauty and complexity of these interlacing patterns suggests a symbolic potency of timeless appeal.
Kelly Kerin lives in Cincinnati, Ohio, U.S.A. and exhibits his works in galleries and exhibitions in the midwest. Creating pieces for shows and commissioned work keeps the woodworking artist busy. He can be reached by e-mail at kkerin@mac.com or by telephone 513/321-5433.
