Band of Bubblers. Poland.

Marcin Tomaszuk-2
On December 26, 2005, Emil Sochacki joined the Soapbubblefanciers group on Yahoo. Felix announced his arrival this way...

"Our International contingent grows with the addition of
Emil Sochacki from Poland.
Check out his website........

Welcome Emil... Felix C."

Earlier this year, Sterling announced Emil's site to the group (as provided to him by Casey) and I was quick to investigate Emil's work. It turns out that he's a member of a band of bubblers who get together to bubble in beautiful plazas in Poland and throughout that part of Europe. This page is dedicated to them, because I think what they do deserves attention and should be mimicked elsewhere.

I have found evidence of informal gatherings of bubblers in public spaces, (see right) in other parts of the world, but those meetings are usually a "happening" arranged as a spontanious event through instant messaging on cell phones. They meet at a certain place at a certain time, all do the same thing (sometimes bubble) and then disburse. What Emil and his friends do is very different. And it seems to be a "European" thing.

The line of pictures below is a small sampling of photos showing folks bubbling for fun and tips in public places. I don't think I found a single photo of an American doing this... I'm sure there must be some, but none that I found.
But, let's get back to the Band of Bubblers story...

Here's how Emil introduced himself to the group...
Hello my dear bubblers from planet Earth

I'm really happy to found this bubble fan yahoo group. I'm playing with
bubbles since three years. Since two years I got some money and loooooooooot of
fun. We have a group of friends we working with. Mostly we could be seen during
summer in main european cities like Prague in Czech Republic, Paris, Amsterdam
and Krakow and Wroclaw in Poland. I love to travel with bubbles and meet
people. Last month we were in polish tv show where we had to transfer a sword
through soap film. The photos you can find here:

Greetings from cold Poland :)
Are here any other european bubblers?

What follows are the photos from the TV show stunt. Cool, don't you think?

Hello again

In this tv show we were in 3 persons, me -
Emil, my friends Lukasz and
Robert. We created a 1.5 sq meter wall made of constantly sinking
mixture of Fairy (german version of Joy dish liquid) with water.

This wall should exist for hours but during live show we had problems with
warmers (this was really huge building) and winds so only we had this
wall for like 10 minutes.

We had 1:30 minute to do our task. To move the sword from one side of
the wall to the other. Before we hold the sword in mixture to have it
wet enough.

Unfortunately we didn't do our task because the film
breaks few times.

Anyway the people enjoyed so much our task that even
if we didn't made our task we won and went to the final.
I'll try to compress the movie and put on our website and tell you.

That's very possible that You had seen me in the cities in Europe. The
world is small :) And because of that - more interesting :-)

If you like to see more photos of our polish group you can view
unreleased yet version of
our gallery here:

Not only have they done very interesting bubble film stunts on national TV, Emil and his friends travel the major cities of Europe making - really big - bubbles in public places. Check out these photos...

Now that’s something we don’t tend to do too much of in the US! Simply get together with friends and bubble for fun and what ever spare money falls into our hats.

When we bubble the big ones, we tend to head out to the park or country, not downtown. (
Felix & Gary Golightly are exceptions to this.) We also tend to bubble for our own ammusement. If others are around to see us, that's fine. Or we bubble at festivals or special events like The Bubble Fairy, Chuck Storey or KellyO do. Big bubbling is not something we tend to do in urban areas, even if we're buskers.

Emil and his friends have shown us the way. Let's follow their lead and get out there - and do our thing in public places!

Here at the bottom of the page, I'll tack on extra information until I get the time to format & integrate it into the page proper, above.

From Emil to Keith, 1/8/06, in response to an email.

Hello again,

My bubble team consist mainly of my friends. First when we started to bubble in towns we gather new friends and friends... After some period we stayed with few people who can do nice bubbles and we can rely on them always. Anyway me, and my friend Lukasz we are main "menagers" and our phones are on our website. There was some period when I was travelling europe and I've meet one girl from usa, with who I was bubbling for few weeks in Praha and Amsterdam.

Of course I've seen your website and I found is quite amazing. I think this is the biggest site about bubbles and everything connected to bubbles :) Thanks for movie and picture archives, they're really awesome!!

Now I'm going to answer your questions:

How did you get started bubbling?

This was about 3 years ago, when me and my friend we have nothing to do and we found Sterling Johnson's site about hand bubbling. We started to try do same tricks and this works, so we enjoyed a lot. After few weeks I saw almost every english site about bubbles and new ideas appears. I was so excited about this beautyful gift from nature that I forgot about rest of world and I was trying to make bigger, better bubbles mixing various liquids etc.

When you pull a bubble down over a child, if the ground is wet, how long will the bubble live?

The bubble lasts only for few seconds (no more than 2-3sec.). The photos you saw on our website were taken by very fast camera. Everything depends of humidity and etc. You know what I mean. Indoors we weer making 4-5 seconds bubbles around child.

I'm really happy to find this soap bubble forum cause now I know there is more people than me and some of my friends that understand really the beatyful think as the bubbles are.
In Poland I finished computer physics and I was interested also in physical point of view for bubbles. Unfortunately here we have big problems with gather some knowledge because, for example amazon.com does not shipping to Poland. I have one nice book of Cyril Isenberg - The Science of Soap Bubbles but still I'm looking for some good publications. Maybe you know any ??

Much greetings
Emil
