Here's why I put the history site (click here to get there) together. It's the culmination of many months and hundreds of hours of intense effort. I loved every minute of it! When creating my Soap Bubble Show I thought it was important to get a historical sense of bubbling so I could share it with my audience. Bubbling is an art, and like all arts it has a past well worth preserving.

Marilyn's
Bubble Blowers Museum illustrates this point clearly. The knack she has of bringing the past along with her as she continues to keep current in her unique pursuit has been a great inspiration to me. I hope you'll click her link above and pay her a visit.

A year ago I wondered what bubblers were up to, if there were any, 100 years ago. To my delight I found in newspaper archives, magazine morgues and other resources, detailed accounts of bubble shows, recipes, tricks to try, and scientific uses of soap bubbles dating back to the 1880s. A few go even farther back!

My only regret is that I was not able to include as much international bubbling history as I would have liked. If you can help with this, please contact me. My email link is at the bottom of every page.

It's my hope that armed with this information you will find time to remember and honor these bubblers that came before us.

Mention them in your bubble shows, or to your students, or perhaps simply think about them the next time you break the foil seal on a jar of bubble juice. Know where your tricks came from and give a little credit to the inventor when you can...

... while I'm on the topic... the Sugiyamas, Eiffel Plasterer, PIC, Tom Noddy, Sterling Johnson, Pep Bou, David Stein, Louis Pearl, Tim Dillenbeck, Casey Carle, Fan & Ana Yang, Alan McKay... the list goes on... excellent bubblers all and all deserve to be recognized for their unique gifts to us in your shows or hobby bubbling. It's not going to kill you, or diminish your reputation, to drop a public "thank you to..." now and again. (Okay, I'm climbing off my soapbox.)

Back to the people you will meet at
The History of Soap Bubbling Site... It's true they never met you, but you can't say they never did anything for you. They did wild and interesting things for us all. That's why we need to remember them. Let them inspire you to dream up new and equally awesome bubble effects and then share with us what you've created, like they did. Is this my personal mission? You bet!

Learn the history, keep it alive, let it feed your bubble work today.

Best.

Keith.

Note: The photos on this page represent bubbles in Fine Art. Though this isn't a topic I get into in the history site, I feel sure I'll be getting to it at some point. I'll be sure to let you know when it happens.
