Seagrass Sentinal Crab, Macrophthalmes setosus

The buff-clawed Seagrass Sentinal Crab, prefers the estuarine shores with a cover of zostera seagrass. This crab ranges from north-western Australia across northern Australia and then south throughout eastern Australia.

When threatened, or in display, both chelae are raised. The males are territorial and will fight off competitors with a ritualised display.
