Biquaddecaphilia (n.)

A strange and persistent obsession with the number 42, often contracted as a result of reading, listening to or watching The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, written by the now sadly deceased Douglas Adams.

The number 42 is widely acknowledged to be the ultimate answer to the great question of life, the universe and everything, to which the question is as yet unknown. Individuals who suffer from biquaddecaphilia will frequently choose the number 42 in preference to an infinite range of positive integers, using it to answer all sorts of apparently unconnected questions, such as ‘How many roads must a man walk down?’, ‘What's six times nine?’, and so on.

Many people have speculated that if we knew why the number 42 was the answer to the ultimate question of life, the universe and everything then we would know a lot more about the nature of our universe than we do today. However, this is pure speculation and modern physicists suggest that the number 11 and the letter ‘M’ may have a more significant part to play in all of this than was previously thought.
