Minification (n.)
The sudden and unexpected realisation that you're
actually smaller than you had previously thought.
This kind of shrinkage—the verb equivalent
of which is ‘minify’—can occur as a result of the ageing
process, poor eyesight and/or general forgetfulness. Although it is a disturbing
feeling, it soon passes, and is not nearly as bad as forgetting who you are
altogether, which is just
careless.
