[man] (n.)
The silent
[man]
is a form of silent punctuation in which the word ‘man’ is clearly
present at the end of a sentence but without any corresponding sound actually
having been uttered.
For example, the following phrases all contain a
silent
[man]:
‘Hey,
look at me, I'm floating in space
[man].’
‘Things
would be so much better if people just chilled out and showed a little love and
respect for each other
[man].’
‘This
is good shit
[man].’
‘Gihuge
[man].’
and
so on. Indeed, any sentence that contains an implicit reference to the 1960s,
peace, love or truth may be considered to have a silent
[man]
at the end, including some of the most profound sentiments ever expressed by
sentient beings.
