Frequently Asked Questions
So, why do a road website?
Because I like roads. I started this website because while there are other websites out there that do online road trips and road photos, this area of Massachusetts hasn't gotten much love. So, armed with my Minolta Z2 digital camera, a red 1997 Pontiac Firebird, and lots of free time, I started this site with aim to entertain and inform.
How did you become interested in roads?
Ironically, a friend of mine who now distates my road hobby spurred it on. I had said one day to him "Why are they called freeways if some of them have tolls?" He told me to go find out why, and I did. Little did he know he spurred me to get interested in the roads around me, to learn more about them, and why they go where they do.
What's up with the goofy signs, and the abandoned roads?
That's what roadgeeking is about. Old stuff is cool, and meant to be treasured. This doesn't mean that modern highway departments are allowed to escape unscathed from their mistakes. Plus, weird signs are just interesting.
Can you take pictures of Route Such and Such?
Probably. Since gas is expensive these days, I tend to take pictures of places as I travel to and fro destinations. Rarely am I able to go out to take pictures "just because." I'm itching to finish I-91, US 5, MA 2, US 7 as my high priority routes, but there are many other interesting roads to get to, like MA 8, the rest of MA 10, US 202, and the various MA state routes in the hilltowns, as well as some New York signage in Rensellaer and Columbia counties.
Can I contribute photos or history to your site?
Absolutely. I won't refuse free stuff. E-Mail me at kefka@nycap.rr.com and attach them.
Your website is dumb and I find you offensive.
I'm sorry. :(
