Virtual Network Computing - VNC
Virtual Network Computing (VNC) is a protocol developed by a group in the
United Kingdom to let you remotely display and control another
computer. This is very useful, if you want to use one computer to
access other computers on your network.
To make VNC work, you need to run a server on all the machines you
want to be able to access and then you need a client (sometimes called
a VNC viewer) program so you can connect to the servers. The
VNC homepage
has a list of many of the servers and clients available.
With the VNC software you can do things like:
- Access your Windows machine from a portable Windows CE machine.
- Use one machine to administer many others, eliminating the need for
a keyboard, video, mouse switch box and the assorted cables it requires.
Below is a link to the VNC client I've written.
