MORPHEUS (V.O.): This line is tapped so I must be brief. They got to you first, but they've underestimated how important you are. If they knew what I know, you would probably be dead.

THOMAS: What are you talking about? What is happening to me?

MORPHEUS: You're the One, Neo. You see, you may have spent the last few years looking for me, but I've spent most of my life looking for you.

MORPHEUS (V.O.): Now, do you still want to meet?

THOMAS: ...yes.

MORPHEUS (V.O.): Then go to the Adams Street bridge.

Note the clap of thunder as Morpheus tells Thomas that he is The One.

In all of the 'lost' parables (lost sheep, lost coin, and lost son in Luke 15; also Luke 19:10, Romans 5:8), God does the finding, just as Morpheus is contacting Neo.

I love the use of street names in this movie. Adams Street bridge...yes, it is probably a real bridge in Chicago (the Wachowski brothers' home town) but it takes points out Thomas' transformation from into a type of the Second Adam, Yeshua.

(ADAMS STREET BRIDGE)

TRINITY: Get in.

THOMAS: What the hell is this?!

TRINITY: It's necessary, Neo. For our protection.

THOMAS: From what?

TRINITY: From you.

SWITCH: Take off your shirt.

THOMAS: What?

SWITCH: Stop the car. Listen to me, coppertop. We don't have time for 'twenty questions.' Right now there is only one rule. Our way or the highway.

THOMAS: Fine.

Thomas, of course, doesn't understand that anyone who is still plugged into the Matrix can be used by the Agents.

In the same way, we fail to understand how easily Satan can use any person in the world to tempt us and draw us from God's will...even well-meaning Christians can offer advise or support that leads us away from God's will. Remember, it isn't that the thing we do is right or wrong...many things are neither good nor bad. The important thing is simply whether or not it is in God's will for us at that time.

Remember the Duracell, the 'copper-top battery' that Morpheus will later show Neo.

TRINITY: Neo, please, you have to trust me.

THOMAS: Why?

TRINITY: Because you've been down there, Neo. You already know that road. You know exactly where it ends. And I know that's not where you want to be.

TRINITY: Apoc, lights. Lie back. Lift up our shirt.

THOMAS: What is this thing?

TRINITY: We think you're bugged. Try to relax. Come on, come on...

SWITCH: It's on the move.

TRINITY: Shit.

SWITCH: You're gonna lose it.

TRINITY: No I'm not. Clear.

THOMAS: Jesus Christ! That thing is real?!

The 'bug' is a great reference to sin.

God must clean us of our sin so that we can be in His presence...thus Thomas must be cleansed of his 'bug' before he can come to meet Morpheus and be brought out of the Matrix.
