I went to my first Stitch 'n Bitch meeting last
week down in Macon. It was so nice to meet other knitters and exchange ideas
and experiences with them! The group is fairly new and appears to be growing
with every monthly meeting. I really enjoyed the ladies who showed up this
time. We had experience ranging from brand new knitter to very advanced. One
of the ladies showed me her technique for continental knitting (holding the
thread in the left hand rather than the right) and I've been practicing it a
little. I think I may actually get it!
Over the weekend I finished the main part of my
knitting needle case and started sewing on knitted straps to hold the needles
in. I stopped part way through, trying to decide if I want to put something in
the case to make it stiff to better protect the needles, but I think I'm going
to finish it up this week as it is. I'll get a picture of it to post,
too.
While I was deciding on that, I started a pair of baby booties for a friend's new baby. The pattern is from DIY called 'Ugg Booties'. There's a hat, too, but I got stuck on the booties and had to get help from the Knitting Novices mailing list. I can't wait to get started on them again!
On the home front, Chad and I were discussing yarn storage solutions and I made a joke about how we have a whole wall dedicated to bicycles (yes...we have 2 two-tier bike holders that lean against a wall, one holding our mountain bikes and the other holding his road bike and this time-trial bike. Then there's the frame that's hanging in the corner of that wall.) I was joking that I only have 2 baskets full of yarn, so really, he shouldn't complain. He said, "A wall of yarn wouldn't be so bad; I just feel like the yarn is all in the floor."
?!?! Yes, campers, he even offered to build me cubby holes to contain my yarn, even a wall full! Not that I want that much space, but now I'm thinking that one of the book cases he was going to build for the living room/library will, at least in part, have cubby holes for my yarn! I'm very excited!
Isnt' he fabulous?!
