Well, I'm finally back at work. Vacation is over
and we're almost over the colds we picked up in Salt Lake.
Oh, Salt Lake...yeah. We had a great time! Lots
of time with Chad's parents and grandparents, never enough time with his
brother, Chris, and Chris' wife, Katy, and their 3 adorable children, Josh,
Michael and Sophie. But we got to watch them open presents on Christmas morning
and help put toys together!
The only downer was that I got really depressed a couple of times about not having kids of my own. This is the first time it's been a problem during a visit and I hope it's the last! What a thing to worry about when you're visiting wonderful people for the first time in 6 months!
So, during the trip I finished knitting 11 scarves and started a baby sweater. The sweater is finished except for blocking. I'm trying to decide if I should dye it or not. I decided it's time for personal knitting, so I knit a cover for an old Aida (cross stitch canvas) tube for holding needles that are being used (like the second of a pair) or those that don't have a case, yet. I used hemp and did about 10 rows or so of a variety of stitches (stockinette, garter, seed, basketweave, double seed and chevron) to make it kind of a sampler.
Once I'd finished that, I pulled out some leftover eyelash yarn and made myself a scarf (pink & purple...yummy!) Then I talked hubby into letting me get another eyelash (curly eyelash) yarn to make another scarf for myself. I figure a knitter should have several different scarves in a variety of styles and colors!
Next I'm waiting for the "My Constant Companion" pattern to arrive so I can start on it. I picked a dark gray and an oatmeal wool for that bag and I'm hoping to have enough left over for the Tote Around, too!
