Plastics 101

Envirowoman has a great article about plastics. She warns that she is no expert and that she may not have it all quite right, but her explanations at least shed some light on the subject.

As for me, I have started knitting a shopping bag out of the plastic bags I receive from the local grocer. They don't offer paper anymore, so I've decided to reuse what they give me until I get enough bags to stop accepting theirs. Looks like it will take long than I thought, though, as I've still got a long way to go and I've run out of their bags. Every time we go to the store I sit down, cut up the bags and knit them into the bag. I think a couple more trips should do it. Here are some great directions for making 'yarn' out of plastic bags.

I do, however, have some other plastic bags from shopping at other stores and I'm also planning to use them to knit shopping bags and maybe a few other things. But I'm looking for more, so if you have any plastic bags you planned to throw away, save them for me, please! Any color, any size, any weight. I'll even give you a mailing address if you want to send 'em over.
