It's Not Easy Being Green

I've been reading a blog, lately, by someone calling herself envirowoman. She's taken a plastic-free pledge. For the year 2007, she is attempting to buy nothing made of or packaged in plastic. Her adventures in this endeavor are interesting and inspiring.

MY pledge for the year 2007 has been that I make no pledges. Actually, that was my pledge a couple of years ago and I'm stickin' to it. But ever since I started Yoga (and, of course, as with any new thing I try, I must read books, magazines and blogs about it, talk about it, write about it, investigate it to its fullest...) I've been reading a lot about going green.

One thing I've noticed about 'going green' is that the green part is about the environment, not about my pocketbook. All this 'environmentally correct' stuff is way more expensive than the not-so-enviro correct stuff. So I talked to my hubby and we decided we'd start by actually recycling all the recyclables we have and to opt for recyclable over eco-icky when we can (paper over plastic, etc). Our next step is to attempt to bring into the house only recyclable plastics. It's a long way from being 'green', but at least it's a start!

Here are a few places to look if you are interested. And, of course, you ARE interested...right?

The Nature Conservatory

and, of course Audubon
