a new altar for Wesley

On June 3, 2006, the altar began the first leg of a journey -

out of my shop to temporary summer storage.  I was assisted

by a terrific moving crew:  Rich Blatchly, Terry Tarr, Lyle

Seger, Lee Hines and Brad Crenshaw.  We removed the front,

side and rear panels, unbolted the top from the legs, then

unbolted the legs from the bottom frame.  All the pieces were

securely wrapped for transport in the pickup trucks that Terry

and Lyle had brought.  There was intermittent rain that day,

so we covered all the pieces with plastic tarps.  Two hours

later, the disassembled altar was at its temporary summer

home on the basement floor of Rich Blatchly and Pat O-Hara's

home.   The first seven photos show the June 3 diassembly

and moving phase.

In mid-August we were given the green light by Dole Brothers

Construction to move the altar into the new church.  Terry

Tarr organized a crew and on August 22 moved the altar

pieces from Blatchly-O'Hara to the sanctuary floor of the new

church, still under construction.   On August 30, Terry and I

reassembled the altar on the chancel, with some help from

Jim Harvey and Lyle Seger.    The remaining photos show the

assembly process and how the altar looked on August 30.
