I. 4. Family Chloroperlidae

Subfamily Chloroperlinae

The generic statuses of the family was reviewed on the Nearctic genera by Surdick (1985).

Genus Alloperla Banks, 1906

The species 2-5 are closely similar though they show different coloration. Though their enlarged epiproct disagree with the other Alloperla, they have undivided female subgenital plate as normal Alloperla.

  1. Alloperla mediata (Navás, 1925)

    Distribution: Hokkaido.
    Japanese name: NAGA-MIDORI-KAWAGERA.
Note. The species, Alloperla ishikariana Kohno, 1953 , looks a synonym of this species!
    = Alloperla ishikarianus [sic] Kohno, 1953, p. 67; fig.7. Type specimen: Sôunkyô, River Ishikari, Hokkaido, Japan. -- Alloperla ishikariana: Illies, 1966, p. 432; Kawai, 1976, p. 37; Alloperla ishikariensis [sic]: Kawai, 1967, p. 174.

Notes: This species is different from the actual thoracica in having dark area on hind margin of either eye.

Genus Sweltsa Ricker, 1943

Japanese Sweltsa looks consist of many (over 10) similar species. We need more detail study on their status.
