Toot, or mulberries, are sweet, white berries. We went early morning with my father and his friends (mostly doctors in Mashhad) to have toot.

We saw people on the way shaking the berries into sheets - the traditional way.


We start by picking the fruit straight from the tree


Then one person mounts the tree.


In season, a gentle shakes is enough to collect a huge amount

Traditionally, 'doogh' - a salty yoghourt drink - is taken to settle the stomach


... especially after a big bellyful!
