Title: Political Page 1
Politics on St. Vincent are, in a sense, like Caribbean politics elsewhere; but in another sense they aren't. As everywhere, power tends to corrupt, but regime change doesn't require a war. In 2000 the party in power gave the politicians a big raise and the civil servants none, and there were demonstrations in the street. Some places that would have collapsed the government, other places the police would have dispersed the demonstrations with bodies in the street. On St. Vincent the Prime Minister resigned and his successor lost the next election in a landslide. They may not agree but everyone still talks to everyone else.

Here are a few pictures of Dr. Gonsalves, the Prime Minister

These are a sampling of some speeches and political essays.
