CAMCORDER COMPARISON PHASE I
Upon some enthusiastic request from fellows at dvinfo.net forum, I shot some footage with camcorders in this subject and I am posting these files for them.
After the name of the each camcorders, the specifics are described so you can be sure how it was shot.
Also, please note that the software and hardware explanation is listed, so you know what I used to capture/edit/encode the footage. |
NTSC 4:3 Interlaced Footage Files
Content: Bike riding in front of my house
Screen Size: 720 x 480
Format: NTSC Interlaced video (60i)
Encoding: MPEG2 at 6.8Mbps/no audio, 2 pass VBR
Shot by: My wife with limited experience when I occasionally ask her to help me shoot video.
Other info.: OIS is off. Vinten Vision 3 tripod is used for the ultra smooth panning.

Specific Operation Info.: Full automatic mode. Zoom is adjusted with the mutifunction focus ring. The iris seems to stay in the range from F9 to F5 depending on the light condition.

Specific Operation info.: Full-automatic mode. Zoom is controlled with the zoom slider.

NTSC 16:9 Anamorphic Frame mode Footage Files
Content: Bike riding in Yoyogi Park
Screen Size: 720 x 480 Squeezed
Format: NTSC Psuedo-Progressive video (30P)
Encoding: MPEG2 at 6.8Mbps/no audio, 2 pass VBR
Shot by: Myself, but not attending because busy riding.
Other info.: OIS is off. The camcorders are placed on small tripods close to the ground.
