40-50 high energy Ron Paul supporters from various meet-up groups throughout Central Texas traveled to Fort Hood in Kileen, Texas. Displaying a profusion of American flags and homemade signs, they spent several hours distributing Ron Paul literature, Freedom to Fascism DVD's, by Aaron Russo, and flyers detailing a rally at which Dr. Paul will be in attendance, to the troops as they exited and re-entered the post at lunchtime. The upcoming rally will be held on February 23rd at the Vive Les Arts Centre in Killeen, with doors opening at 10:15 and Congressman Paul arriving at 11:00. In attendance at the Fort Hood event was Ron Pauls' son, Robert Paul, who came down from Fort Worth to participate. Campaign volunteers from meet-up groups in Weatherford, Waco, Austin, and various other locales, some as far away as Corpus Christi, made the trip to attend this event.

The service men and women, many of whom have served multiple tours in Iraq, were generally receptive to the material, with approximately 30% gladly accepting it, and a majority of those expressing support for the message through "thumbs-up" gestures, honks and waves, or sending their spouses to seek out group members later in the day for more information regarding Congressman Pauls' Constitutional platform.

The literature drop at Fort Hood was covered by the local NBC affiliate, KCEN, and by Bryan Kirk, Killeen bureau reporter for the Temple Daily Telegram, Temple, Texas. The event was conceived and organized by Iraq war (police action) veteran Vincent Campos, who became an ardent Ron Paul supporter after attending a rally in Austin, Texas in the summer of 2007. Campos feels that it is important to expose his compatriots to Dr. Pauls' message of Constitutionality, his record of support for our servicemen and women throughout his years in Congress, and to the concept of the Constitutional application of our military as opposed to the United Nations sanctioned police actions which have become the accepted norm.

Despite censorship and disinformation from the mainstream military media the Ron Paul campaign remains vibrant, active, and engaged, with a core group of ardent volunteers and an attitude of perseverance from the campaign. Dr. Paul will also be appearing at a rally in Austin, Texas at the Main Mall on the University of Texas campus on February, 23rd. This speaking engagement will be preceded by a musical performance by Jimmie Vaughn and other local artists. With the recent allegations of lobbyists scandals coming to light surrounding John McCain the Paul campaigns tenacity may just leave him as the last man standing in this schizophrenic election cycle.
