On How the Neocons Stole Freedom Melinda Pillsbury Foster, a member of the National Federation of Republican Women, has an article on the back and forth for W's library. Personally I pity whoever gets this repository on their land.

"Since Bush has signed an executive order allowing him and his heirs to block access to documents in virtual perpetuity the usefulness of the Project for research is probably nil. Already funded to the tune of a half a billion dollars, mostly by the Bush core constituency of oil companies and other multinationals who are profiting mightily in Iraq, the Policy Center is expected to justify and promote the policies that Bush has himself followed. One can imagine the kind of research carried out in the back behind the sound proofed doors. But we are lead to that conclusion and to contemplating the idea that how to lie more effectively and manufacture the needed justifications would also be included...

LibraryJournal.com reports...
More intrigue has surfaced in the race to land the George W. Bush presidential library after it was disclosed that Southern Methodist University (SMU), Dallas, long considered a front-runner, had received a $35 million gift from Dallas businessman Ray Hunt. The gift, according to the Dallas Morning News, was used to purchase a shopping center that could become the library site. The extraordinary gift was made last fall but curiously remains unannounced by university officials, who told reporters details have not been finalized.
The news, however, became public in court records from a case brought by Gary Vodicka, who filed suit last year alleging that SMU forced residents out of a condominium complex to make way for the library. Meanwhile, First Lady Laura Bush said that a decision on the library was unlikely before 2007. SMU, the First Lady’s alma mater, is one of three finalists for the Bush library, along with Baylor University in Waco and the University of Dallas.
