"a simple tale of good versus evil."
"Today's humanitarian
militarists and Islamic radicals are cut from the same cloth. In Bosnia from
1992 to 1995, they were close allies – propagandistic, moralistic and
militaristic allies. During the Bosnian war, anywhere between 1,200 and 3,000
Arab
Mujahideen, many of them veterans of the Afghan-Soviet
war of the 1980s, descended on Bosnia to fight alongside the Bosnian
Muslims. And their movement into Bosnia was facilitated by the new
"humanitarians" in Washington."
"Bosnia had a key transformative
effect on both the Western liberal establishment and the Arab Mujahideen. It was
the conflict that made many in the West pro-interventionist, convincing them
that the "international community" must ignore sovereign norms and intervene
around the world to save people from tyranny. And it transformed the Mujahideen
from religious nationalists – who during the Afghan-Soviet war possessed
"no global blueprint transcending their individual countries" – into
global warriors against "evil," who also, like their humanitarian paymasters,
began to care little for old-fashioned ideas about sovereignty. It is after
Bosnia that we see the emergence of international networks of Islamic
militants."Full Article by

as an aside, Truthout
prints old discredited lies , then purges commenters who disagree. How
"liberal" can you get? No response from Truthout, and the end of my

operation.Here are the spiked

are you pulling up
thisWhy are you pulling
up this discredited crap , a lying photo and pure propaganda, out of the scrap
heap of the manipulated history of Yugoslavia's demise. The barbed wire was not
holding anyone in, it was a staged photo, and Fikret was the only skinny captive
amongst all his muscular friends. right!. He was pushed to the foreground, any
highschool group could produce an equivalent photo with at least one super
skinny kid. Srebrenica has another story also, if you'd care to hear it, about
the way that town's paramilitary, pro western forces had for months used the
U.N. as their shield to emerge into the surrounding countryside as raping ,
torturing, murdering gangs, who then slunk back to their lair. They aroused
enough hatred that an awful revenge was carried out, against the innocent as
well as the guilty. It is as well to understand both sides of the conflict there
, but even better to understand the origin of the whole affair, in sinister
meetings between Germany and the

is correct. This
photoBob is correct.
This photo was staged, and its actually the pinnacle of bad faith and arrogance
to have one of the authors of this fabrication have the nerve to bring it up
again. Actually, when I saw the title or the article I thought that it was about
nobody ever apologizing for this canard, but it turns out that instead of an
apology, this is just a timely "re-heating" of an already totally stale and cold
story.Sure, I understand that
since the arch villain of Bosnia, the new Hitler of the Balkans, the Evil
Genocidal Doctor, Radovan Karadzic, has been "caught" (read: sold out by his own
Serbian brothers) it is important to pile up as much propaganda as possible on
the man. But guys, the Serbs *did* commit plenty of *real* horrors in the
Balkans (although no more or less than the others) so there is no need to refer
to totally discredited
baloney.Is there nobody at
truthout who knows anything about
Bosnia?!truthout
