Barren ground caribou chased down the Trans-Labrador Highway. Many did not migrate north this summer.

Black bear at Churchill Falls garage dump. Typically, there were three to eight bear at the landfill each time I visited. Some, such as this female weighed about 600 pounds. While not aggressive, caution was prudent; these garbage bears have no fear of humans.
