BROOKTONDALE - Mark A. Greenleaf, age 50, of 539 Brooktondale
Road, Brooktondale, NY, passed away on Thursday, February 23, 2006, at
the Hospicare Residence, Ithaca, NY.
Mark was born March 11, 1955 in Plattsburgh, NY, a son
of Frederick A. Greenleaf of Ithaca and the late Evelyn Morrison Greenleaf.
Mark was graduated from Ithaca High School in 1973 and from Cornell University
with a BS in Plant Pathology in 1978. He relocated to Washington, DC and
was employed for 25 years at the District of Columbia Department of Health
retiring after a distinguished career in 2003 as the Bureau Chief. He
was an avid outdoorsman and talented artist who specialized in painting
birds and wildlife. He also taught and enjoyed Zydeco and Cajun Dance.
Mark's passion for life will endure through his family and his many friends.
Survivors include his father, Frederick A. Greenleaf of
Ithaca; his brother, Stephen T. (Jacquieline DeRosa) Greenleaf of El Dorado
Hills, CA; his sisters, Anne D. (Herschel) Greenleaf-Gorbein of Loudonville,
NY, Jeanne C. (Ernesto) Tolentino of Pasadena, CA, Nancy E. (Ronald) Woodard
of Ithaca and Carol P. Greenleaf of Albany, NY; and his canine companion,
Wren. Several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
His mother, Evelyn M. Greenleaf, died November 21, 1999.
A celebration of Mark's life will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday,
February 28, 2006, at Anabel Taylor Hall, Cornell University in Ithaca,
NY. Burial will be private. There are no prior calling hours. However,
there will be a reception in the Founders Room across the hall from the
chapel following the celebration. Memorials are graciously directed to
