Odors, Pets and Allergies Environmental allergies fall into 3 categories. Microbials Molds, Bacteria, Viruses etc. Gases Pet odors, carpet, paints, urine, formaldehyde etc. Particulates Dust mites, dead skin, pet dander, Pet hair etc. Microbials: Molds can grow anywhere, in warm or dry locations. Some molds dont have strong odors, yet they can affect pets and people. Molds in basements can rise through cracks in doors, floors and enter the living space. Pets or small children that play or sleep in these locations can be susceptible to these molds. Extended exposure to these molds can suppress the immune system, make the exposed pets or people sick and in some cases cause brain damage or death. Bacteria, Viruses can also suppress the immune system in pets and people. Proper cleaning with germicides and certain types of air purification technology can help reduce or eliminate these concerns. Gases: Gases can be odorless, and colorless, some gases can be immediate headaches and other symptoms depending upon the individual. Other gases can affect the health long-term; molds can give off mycotoxin that can affect your pets health and families health. Symptoms sometimes dont show up for weeks or months. Often treatment deals with the symptoms and not the cause. Gases from dust mites, insect fecess can cause other health issues without odors. Natural cleaners can be used to remove the odors from skunks or other animal eliminate such as cat or dog urine. Some locations may need advance purification equipment to eliminate these odors. We have yet to find a location that we can't eliminate an odor. Mold concerns, using dehumidification can reduce moisture and help to control mold growth. This technology alone does not prevent it, air purification is also needed to keep the air cleaner and prevent mold germination.
