Optometrists and Acrobats

Hey! I found a preformed Mac page that lets you enter text. Whoo hoo!

Anyway, check out the Day One and Day Two Beijing pages for more pictures.

Here's the scoop on the rest of Day One (well, the full day). As I mentioned, I (ahem) stepped on D's glasses in the middle of the night. Not my fault because they'd fallen b/w the beds. Anyway, we managed to get to an optometrist, and the folks were so nice and helpful and the glasses were a great price! $170 US for nice frames, very thin lenses AND the eye exam. So he walked out seeing better than he had walking in!

And they, of course, loved Catherine. She's taking all this adoration in stride!

We had to wait an hour while they made the glasses, so we walked up and down the street and found a nice supermarket where we stocked up on water. (We're being overly careful with the water, I think. I don't even use it to wash my face, and I'm not sure if bathing in it is good or not, so we're spongebathing C. If anyone knows, email me and give me the real scoop!).

At any rate, got water and beer and headed back. The glasses were ready, and we hailed a taxi and went back to the hotel (we had to show them the card for where we wanted to go, but it was soooo easy.

We rested for a few hours and then went to see the Bejiing Acrobats. Absolutely, totally, completely amazing! I'll post a video clip later to give you some idea, but so worth the money. You really have to see it to believe it, and for those coming after, it's well worth the money to squeeze it in (I don't remember how much it cost, but it wasn't bad). They picked us up at the hotel, got us to our seats, and then took us back. Easy squeazy. D and I loved it just as much as C did!

She was clearly running on adrenaline, though, as she conked out the second we got back to the hotel. So conked, in fact, that we ordered room service. There was no menu in the room, so we ordered the only thing we were sure they had: fried rice. And, yes, it was yummy!

Going to crash now! Tomorrow is Isabella day and I want to be rested. Eventually (maybe?) I'll catch up on blogging. We'll see!
