When I take the time to make one of these travel reports, I typically try to put a story into it. So it's not just photos with captions. Of course this is more work than just stuffing a number of photos onto a Web page. That's why there are so few of them. Check also the photo section!
If some of the photos appear uncharacteristically dark to you, you are probably viewing them on a PC. I create these pages on my preferred machine for Web work, which is a Mac. Macs and PCs have a different gamma for their monitors. Therefore, colors look darker on PCs. Sorry, but you can optimize only for one platform.
Most of these photos were taken with a Nikon Coolpix 900 (an older digital camera). Other photos were taken either using my Nikon N6006 or with a Panasonic C-D2200ZM (an excellent older pocket camera). To get these 'traditional' photos on the web I get prints made 'glossy' and scan them using a Microtek V710 flatbed scanner. You can recognize these photos because they often have more brilliant colors. Using 'glossy' prints brings out the colors better than the matte prints most people use (matte prints have only one advantage: you don't see fingerprints on them. Other than that glossy is always better)
