On this 16th day of August 1900 before me a Notary Public in & for aforesaid county John Lunn aged 62 years a member of Company C. 2d Regt of Minnesota Volunteer United States Cavalry, who being duly sworn according to law deposes and says: that he enlisted in the United States service at Oatona Steel Co Min. Nov 1st 1863; that in June 1865 he was discharged from Said Service at Fort Wadsworth for Physical disability resulting from Scurvey Rheumatism, and Chronic Diarhoea; All of which he never recovered from, and at times completely disable him for performing any & every kind of manual labor; and for which he has been granted a pension under Pension Certificate No 264754 & which Pension rate is fixed at $6 per month; Said Rate being inadequate to the dissabilities he Sustains. Affiant further states that he has made application for an increase of Pension by reason of the above named disabilities and also for varicose veins & injury to right hand under the Act of June 27, 1890; that under date of August 6th 1900 the Said Appliction for increased Pension was rejected by the Commissioner of Pensions on the grounds that Applicants disability does not Exceed the pension he is now drawing; from which decision the claimant hereby appeals to the Secretary of the interior; asking for a re-hearing upon his former Application for an increased Rate, for the aforesaid disabilities.
