In the Matter of claim of Edward H. Lunn 1st Batt. Wis, Lt.Arty Personally came before me, a Notary Public in and for aforesaid County and State, W. M. Matthews, aged 31 years and Chris. Johnson, aged 38 years citizens of the town of Eureka, County of McPherson State of South Dakota, well known to me to be reputable and entitled to credit, and who being duly sworn, on oath declare, in relation to aforesaid case, as follows:
 
That during the years 1885 and 1886 we were residents of Ellendale, N.D. and were personally acquainted with Edward H. Lunn seeing him nearly every day during that time. He was working for Martin Strain weighing coal and doing light work about their warehouse and Livery Stable.
That during all that time he was suffering from injury to his side, back, head and knees. His head pained him a good deal, was dizzy often.
His back and side were weak and caused him much suffering.
His knees were weak, painful and frequently swollen.
That during that time he was unable to do hard work, could only do light work, not to exceed one fourth of what an able bodied man could do.
 
We further declare, that we have no interest in said case, and are not concerned in its prosecution, and we are not related to the applicant.
