Ancestors of Hannah Amanda Gump (Our maternal great grandmother)
1. Johann Georg Gumpp (born in Huffenhardt, Germany), age 22, and his wife, Rosina Mack (born in Wimpfen [near Heilbonn] Ger), landed in the port of Philadelphia, PA on 19 Sep 1732. They had gone from their home in the state of Baden, Germany to Rotterdam where they sailed for America on the ship, Pink Johnson under the command of David Crockett. Johann Georg was the great-great-great-grandson of Caspar Gumpp who migrated from the area of Eichstatt, Bavaria to Huffenhardt, Germany before 1599.
2. Johann Elias Williard born in Erlenbach , Germany in 1734. (Also see Wimpfen above). Died in America. His grandparents, Jacob Vieillard and Marie Gordier, were also born in Erlenbach and probably brought the family to America since Marie died in America. Jacob's parents, Nicholaus Vieillard and Catherine Grosjean , were born in Sedan, France and were probably French Hugenot.
3. Jacob Weller born in Diedenshausen, Berleburg, Germany in 1704 (for a description of this area, maps and its history go here). Died in America. His wife, Maria Vieruhr was probably from Germany.
4. Johann May came from Germany on the ship Edinburgh and landed in America on 5 Sep 1748 and settled in Donegal (W. Conestoga) Twp, Lancaster County, PA.
5. Simon Stucky (Stuki) was born in 1719 in Germany and arrived in America aboard the ship "Virtuous Grace" on 24 SEP 1737. The name is of Swiss origin.

6. Robert Titus was probably born in England in 1600 and died in Huntington LI, NY. His father, Silas died in Bushey, Hertfordshire, England.
7. Rev Christopher Youngs and his wife Margaret Elvin were both born (? in England) before 1600 and died in America.
8. Thomas Moore was born in 1590 and died in Salem MA.
9. Joseph Frazee was born after 1635 in northern Ireland and died in NJ.
10.Thomas Osborne and Mary Goatley were married in 1621 in Ashford, Kent, England and died in East Hampton, Long Island.
11. Thomas Hancks was born before 1630 in England and was deported to Virginia in 1642/43.

12. William Lun and Isabella Turnbull came from Roxburghshire, Scotland and arrived in America in August 1835. The map shows the location of several villages where according to LDS Scottish Church Records possible ancestors of William and Isabella may have lived.
13. Henry and Goddie Gregory were born in Nottinghamshire, England and came to New England in 1633.
14. Walter Hoyt was born in 1616 in Upway, Dorchester, Dorset, England and died in Fairfield, CT.
15. Thomas Benedict was born in Nottinghamshire, England in 1617 and died in Norwalk CT in 1689. His wife, Mary Bridgum was born in Southold, Sussex, England after 1619 and died in Norwalk CT in 1718.

16. John Ball - "Among the six sons of William Ball, of Wiltshire, England, who came to America before 1640 was John Ball, who settled near Boston."
17. Robert Rose - He "came from Elmswell, County Suffolk, England, sailing from Ipswich in Apr., 1634, on the ship 'Francis', John Cutting, master. With him was his wife Margery Everard, aged 40, and 8 ch.: Jonathon, 17; Robert, 15; Elizabeth, 13; Mary,11; Samuel, 9; Darah, 7; Daniel, 3; and Dorcas, 2. They first settled in Watertown, MA but by 1635 had removed to Wethersfield, Conn.
18. Samuel Hale was born in Wales in 1615 and his wife, Mary Smith in England in 1624. Both died in CT. Mary's parents, Rev. Henry Smith and Dorothy Cotton, brought her to America.
19. Simon Stone and Mary Whipple both were born in Bocking, Essex, England and died in MA. Simon came to America with his parents, Samuel Stone and Joanne Clark. Mary came to America with her parents, Sarah Hawkins and John Whipple.
20. John Starr was born in Ashford, Kent, England, and his wife Martha Bunker in Odell, Bedfordshire, England. John came to America with his parents, Comfort and Elizabeth Starr and grandparents Thomas and Susan Starr.
21. John Eaton and Abigail Gilson were both born in Kent, England and died in Dedham, Norfolk, MA.
22. John Leavens was born in England and died in Roxbury, Norfolk, MA.
23. Stukely Westcott and Juliana Marchant both were born near Yeovil in Somerset, England, came to MA in 1635 and died in RI. Whitman's book contains a history of the early Westcotts in England. Also see talk by Eleanor Westcott Trismen about Westcott history.
24. Thomas Dewey was born in Sandwich, Kent, England and died in Windsor CT. in 1648.
