Notes

Edward Lunn was born in the Town of Edmeston on 29 May 1844 and was living with his family when the 1850 federal census was taken. His mother, Isabella Turnbull Lunn died in November 1850. When the New York State census was taken in 1855 Edward Lunn, age 11, was a ward of Edward and Matilda Hall in the Town of Burlington. According to the 1860 federal census he was living with his brother John's family, which included John's wife Rachel Kenyon Lunn and their child George Lunn, on the same farm in the Town of Edmeston that John and Edward's parents had owned.

He served in the army during the Civil War enlisting August 1862 in Company K of the 121st New York Volunteers along with his brother William. Pension records indicate he was discharged on 16 February 1863 on orders from Gen. Wadsworth from the Hunwood Hospital, Washington DC. On 15 December 1863 he enlisted in the 1st Battery of the Wisconsin Light Artillery Volunteers commanded by John T. Foster. Records state he was 5'9" tall, had dark hair and hazel eyes. While on a march from Baton Rouge, LA to Pascayoula, MS on 12 December 1864 he was thrown from a gun carriage, injuring both knees, back and head, also breaking two ribs on the left side. He was honorably discharged at Camp Washburn, Wisconsin on 18 July 1865 by reason of being mustered out with his Battery.

In an affidavit submitted in 1892 requesting a pension he stated he suffered from disease of the heart and varicose veins as a result of his fall and also had piles which were contracted in February 1864 at New Orleans, LA while serving with his Battery. On a form from the Bureau of Pensions sent in 1898 asking if he was ever married, Edward replied "No I have never felt able to take care of family". In the 1914 obituary of his brother, John, it was stated that Ed Lunn recently spent an extended visit with his nephew, Joseph S. Lunn in Oneonta.

He died 7 May 1917, 2 days after his nephew, Joseph Lunn died in Oneonta, and on a form from the Northwestern Branch, National Home for Disabled Volunteer Soldiers it is stated he died from "Arterio Sclerotic Dementia: Mitral Insufficiency".
