ÒThomas Dewey was born in Sandwich, Kent County, England and came to New England probably in the ÔLyonÕ in 1630. He settled in Dorchester in the Massachusetts Bay colony, where he was enrolled a freeman in 1634. He removed to the new settlement at Windsor, Hartford County, Conn., where he was cornet of the town troup of mounted light infantry in 1638. Here he received a grant of land Feb. 28, 1640. He m (1) - May 22, 1638-9, Frances Clark, widow of Capt. Daniel Clark, a pioneer of Windsor. Thomas d- Windsor, Apr 27, 1648, leaving besides his widow, 5 ch.: Thomas, Josiah, Anna, Israel and Jedediah, all b -between Feb. 16, 1640 and Dec. 15, 1647.Ó
