June 2009 PTA
Newsletter
It is difficult
to believe the school year is over! The PTA board would
like to take the opportunity to thank all the volunteers
who worked to make the year the great success that it was.
No matter how big or small your contribution, it made a
difference! We would also like to thank the staff and
administration at both schools for their ready assistance
and unfailing support. We feel extremely fortunate to be
able to work with such a great group of caring parents and
educators!
The last meeting of the year was held on Monday, June 15th
and was quite productive. The PTA agreed to fund t-shirts
for 7th grade students who participated in Rachel's
Challenge at a cost of $170.00, and also to purchase
Rachel's Challenge Chain Reaction journals for the incoming
7th grade students at a cost of $425.00.
Also discussed was the Summer Reading Program at Rye
Elementary School. To entice more students to read this
summer, the PTA will fund a raffle for all participants to
be held at the start of the school year. One lucky winner
per grade level will take home a game and there will be a
grand prize of tickets to the Seacoast Rep! Packets were
sent home this week with a chart to track your child's
reading as well as some great book recommendations. You can
also visit peggysharp.com and
readkiddoread.com for more
suggested reading lists. Thanks to Susan Detwiler and
Kathie Kennedy, RES reading specialists!
We are still in need of volunteer coordinators for the
upcoming school year. If you would like to help with the
fall gift wrap fundraiser, After School Enrichment program,
Spaghetti Dinner planning or any of our other great events,
please contact us at mmswen@myfairpoint.net or visit our
website at ryepta.org to learn more.
THANK YOU
AGAIN, HAVE A WONDERFUL SUMMER
AND SEE YOU IN THE FALL!!
